2 More Projects

I'm posting two more projects based on the September Sketch that we've been using this month at The Sketch File. Based on my color choices, I must be in a "purple" mood. Truthfully, I only used the purple and yellow in the layout to represent my son's high school colors.  This is his first and last year at this high school. It has been a big change for him but he is doing well.  I hope you have enjoyed seeing the projects that Kathy and I have created based on this months sketch and will join us next month when we introduce the October sketch.

Torn Snowman

I'm back with yet another Christmas card and once again I am playing along with Challenge # 29 at CASE-ing Christmas.  I used the snowman and snowy scene from Mynn's card as the basis for my inspiration. I tore white cardstock into the shape of three snowballs of various sizes and used the same technique to create the stick arms and hat.  I added a bit of blue chalk to give the snow a bit of dimension and stuck the snowman in a a pile of snow. Thanks for the inspiration Mynn!

Sketch File's September Sketch

It's been a very busy week. I recently started a new job and find myself tired at the end of the day. So, I'll make this a quick post. I'm sharing this card in hopes that you'll be inspired to join Kathy and I at the The Sketch File this month. We'd love to see what you create with the sketch. Kathy often creates a second version of the sketch to offer even more inspiration. You can choose to use either sketch.

CASE-ing Christmas Challenge 29

I'm playing along with the current challenge at CASE-ing Christmas. My inspiration for this card comes from the beautiful card created by Mynn. Like Mynn, I used a snowman theme and blue and white color combination (yes, that's dark blue and not black, but I couldn't convince my camera of that!). I loved Mynn's layered snow, so I also included some torn cardstock to look like layers of snow.  I added a tag with a snowman instead of having the snowman sit directly on this torn cardstock snow. I created the little snowman by hand cutting him from white cardstock and dressed him up with a hat and scarf. I added detail to the hat, scarf and snow with colored pencils and finished by adding a dimensional snowflake.

September Sketch

I'm back with another card I created for our current sketch challenge at The Sketch File. I decided to add another holiday card to my growing stack of cards. I have lost count of how many Christmas cards I've already created, but having extras doesn't hurt because it gives me more cards to select from come Christmas time. This card came together quickly. I punched three snowflakes from a white/pinkish piece of cardstock and layered it on a mat that matched the patterned snowflakes. I used computer generated words for my sentiment. I tried to keep the card simple and not too busy.  I can't wait to see what you do with the sketch. Don't forget to link it up with us over at The Sketch File.

September Sketch

Today I am introducing our latest sketch and hoping you'll be inspired enough to play along with us at the The Sketch File. This sketch will be posted for the month of September  and we will be back weekly to share more of our cards or scrapbook pages to inspire you.

Instead of creating a card based on the sketch, I decided to create a scrapbook page about a restoration project that my husband took on. He loves to do wood working projects and I benefit because I end up with beautiful pieces of furniture for our home.  I  decided to use the horizontal strip as a pocket to store a few more photos. I simply mounted them on cardstock and attached a pull tab.
